Reliance Jio has quietly removed age restrictions on its complimentary Google AI Pro subscription, expanding eligibility beyond the initial 18-25 demographic to users of all ages across India.
The telecoms giant extended the 18-month free access program—valued at ₹35,100 per user—approximately one week after launching the partnership with Google on October 29, 2025. Multiple Jio customers over 25 confirmed successful activation through Reddit discussions, with one 34-year-old user reporting immediate access via the MyJio app.
Partnership Accelerates Rollout Timeline
The rapid expansion contradicts Reliance’s original statement that the offer would “gradually expand to include every Jio customer nationwide in the shortest time possible”. What initially appeared to be a phased rollout targeting younger subscribers transitioned to universal access within days, signaling aggressive adoption goals from both companies.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai framed the collaboration as democratizing advanced AI tools across India’s population, noting that eligible Jio users would receive “Gemini 2.5 Pro, 2TB of storage + our latest AI creation tools” at no additional cost. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, positioned the initiative within his broader “AI for All” vision to make intelligence services accessible to India’s 1.45 billion residents.
Subscription Requirements and Benefits
Jio customers must maintain an active unlimited 5G plan priced at ₹349 or above to qualify, with both prepaid and postpaid users eligible. The subscription package includes access to Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro model, Veo 3.1 Fast for AI-generated video creation with integrated audio, enhanced NotebookLM features for research, and 2TB of shared cloud storage across Gmail, Google Drive, and Photos.

The offer matches an ₹1,950 monthly subscription value, representing substantial savings over the 18-month period. Users can activate the program through the MyJio app by locating the “Pro plan of Google Gemini FREE” banner and completing the registration process with their Google account credentials.
Scale and Market Impact
With Jio’s subscriber base exceeding 482 million users, the partnership represents one of India’s largest AI accessibility initiatives. The timing follows similar moves by competitors, including Airtel’s one-year Perplexity AI Pro offering announced earlier in 2025.
Beyond consumer applications, Reliance Intelligence became a strategic partner for Google Cloud to expand access to AI hardware accelerators and Tensor Processing Units throughout India, supporting enterprise deployment of large-scale AI models. The infrastructure component aims to strengthen India’s position in the global AI ecosystem while reducing barriers to entry for organizations seeking advanced machine learning capabilities.
